TEWWY envisions a Tanzania where integrated mental health care reduces and prevents suicides. Our mission is to bridge the intergenerational and mental health treatment gaps. We train elderly women in WHO’s mental health Gap Action Program. The elderly women provide free mental health services, psychosocial support, and psychoeducation resources in under-resourced and marginalized communities.
We collaborate with schools to train teachers in evidence-based mental and behavioral health interventions and integrate mental health literacy into their curricula. And we partner with the public sector and diverse peer-led grassroots organizations to integrate equitable mental health interventions into their services.
Our objectives are to provide evidence-based mental health care and psychosocial support; strengthen social support systems and community linkages with public health care pathways; and advocate for policy change to integrate mental health care into public, community, and social services.
