Thaddeus is an OEM of the MARATHON (rebranded from iQ-ler) for temperature-sensitive medical products. Our mission is to improve patient outcomes by protecting temperature-sensitive medical products through the entirety of the medical cold chain, especially the “Last Mile”.
Dr. Scully came across temperature excursions as it relates to patient care (Pre-Analytical work flows in Clinical Pathology) at The Mayo Clinic in 2014. Patients specimens coming from the bedside to the lab bench sometimes need temperature control or risk adulteration which could have disastrous consequences if that specimen is relied upon to be an accurate reflection of the patient's physiology.
Broadening the scope of the problem to include the global medical cold chain which bleeds $35B every year in waste, we are now laser focused on going to market to help Home Infusion, Compounding Pharmacies, and Pharmacy Benefit Managers that deliver therapeutics to the home, sometimes referred to as "White Bagging" or "Brown Bagging". This Practice is controversial, as many factors can result in a spoiled or delayed therapy regimen for patients. However, the MARATHON is an ideal solution for this problem as it ameliorates many of the risks associated with White & Brown Bagging, especially specialty meds that are USP 797 regulated. Those risks include: temperature excursions, loss, theft, counterfeiting, and shock/drop/mishandling leading to unsterile products and contamination.
The MARATHON product is an all-in-one system that actively safeguards and precisely controls the temperature all while providing GPS, real time temperature tracking and security with a chain-of -custody.
