The model is simple. Fueled by donors who have accumulated significant wealth, and who, as private citizens, want to effect change in their communities in a way that no government or any public entity can. Empowered by community organizations who identify individuals and small businesses facing financial hardships, donors make direct grants or loans to keep them from complete collapse.
