The Dory Code

ORT SA CAPE is a non-profit organisation with the mission to provide training and support to educators in underprivileged communities, ensuring that every child has access to quality education. Linked to this mission is the Dory Code, which delivers workshops designed to equip educators with the skills and resources needed to effectively teach early coding and robotics. The Dory Code is an initiative of ORT SA CAPE, aimed at making coding both accessible and enjoyable for educators and learners. Featuring Dory the Dragon as our coding hero, we offer straightforward and supportive instruction that transforms coding education into an exciting adventure. The Dory Code includes two specialised kits: Dory’s Unplugged Coding Kit and Dory’s Coding with Robot Friends Kit, both tailored for young learners and their teachers. These kits were developed as cost-effective ways to meet the diverse needs of educators and schools. They are designed to support the coding and robotics curriculum up to Grade 3, fostering a love for problem-solving and coding in the classroom. Over the past year, more than 650 early childhood educators have participated in our training programs, successfully introducing early coding and robotics into their teaching practices. At The Dory Code, teachers experience a supportive environment to explore and innovate. Our approach is based on the belief that well-trained educators lead to improved educational outcomes for learners. By combining engaging resources with comprehensive training workshops, we aim to enhance educators' skills, boost learners’ cognitive abilities, and make a lasting impact on the communities we serve.
