The FlipFlopi Project

We are a circular economy movement based in East Africa who built the world's first 100% recycled plastic sailing 'dhow', to showcase alternate uses of waste plastic, and change mindsets about plastic pollution. We use heritage boatbuilding and waste-plastic innovation to generate public and policy engagement to call for an end to single-use plastics, while ensuring all other plastics become part of a circular economy. We follow a "full-systems" approach to tackling plastic pollution: EDUCATION to change behaviours around plastic consumption; INNOVATION to create new uses for waste-plastic, and advocacy to INFLUENCE legislation that will ban unnecessary single-use plastic Please contact us for partnership opportunities.
