The Gray Matter Experience

At The Gray Matter Experience, advocating for economic equity is our guiding principle. Since our inception in 2016, we've been dedicated to narrowing the racial wealth gap by empowering over 2,000 young Black individuals through entrepreneurship. We've invested more than $100,000 in seed funding and pro bono services, supporting 95 impact-driven entrepreneurs in the process. Based in the world-class city of Chicago, we have developed a nationally recognized and sought-after model for entrepreneurship education. We offer innovative bootcamps, immersive national partner programs, and foundational experiences from internships to pitch competitions. These opportunities invite young Black people, aged 14 to 24, to build futures in business and innovation, access to which they may not have previously had. Our approach includes skilled mentorship, community-focused impact, and the creation of safe spaces designed by Black leaders for curious creators, innovative thinkers, and budding visionaries. We provide what past generations needed — ongoing, holistic support and culturally nuanced methodologies that empower curious thinkers to become influential innovators. Together, we aim to empower a new generation of Black changemakers to chart their bold paths and create systemic change within their communities.
