The Molecular Genetics Laboratory

This research laboratory was established by Professor Boniface B. Kayang from the Department of Animal Science at the University of Ghana, Legon. Our team is committed to creating a cutting-edge research facility in Animal Molecular Genetics. Our mission is to advance knowledge in Animal Genetics, Husbandry, and Health. We train students at the Undergraduate, Master's, and Doctorate Degree levels using Biotechnology, equipping the next generation of experts with the skills needed to excel in this field. Additionally, we accept interns at the undergraduate level, providing students with practical knowledge and hands-on experience in Animal Molecular Genetics and research development. By training experts, we aim to deepen our understanding of genetic mechanisms in animals, conduct pioneering academic research, and support the growth of Ghana's livestock industry. We are driven by a mission-oriented approach to address market demands for improved animal traits and sustainable practices. Through collaboration, we strive to unravel genetic mysteries, explore innovative breeding techniques, and contribute to sustainable livestock practices.
