The Nirvik was first published on 15th August 1958 by Late Shri Sarat Kumar Kar. He was a student at Ravenshaw College then. It had to be discontinued soon thereafter as Shri Kar left for his higher studies at Allahabad University. He revived the Nirvik in April 1979 when he was a Member of the Lok Sabha from Cuttack. It was a successful and well-read weekly for 4 years but had to be stopped in December 1982 for various reasons.
It was relaunched on 15th August 2022 after a gap of almost 40 years by the Sarat Kar & Anima Kar Foundation. We seek to speak the truth on all issues and events. To be independent and fair is what being “Nirvik” is all about. Late Shri Sarat Kumar Kar was fiercely independent-minded and so was his publication and writings. We seek his blessings on this journey.
