Creating Great Teachers. The Teaching Practice provides highly experienced facilitators working individually with teachers to increase their content knowledge, competence, and confidence in teaching. They are further sources of both content knowledge and pedagogical content knowledge for teachers and are working to support high-quality teaching, effective classroom practice, and improving practice to meet the diverse needs of all ākonga. The Teaching Practice works alongside teachers and school leaders to provide a wide range of bespoke guidance, support, mentoring and training opportunities and resources through our programs. The Teaching Practice will work with teachers to identify their needs and implement strategies to improve effectiveness and ākonga outcomes. The Teaching Practice can work with you to co-design a consultancy day or package based on your own identified needs and offer support and mentoring for teachers in one of our programs; this may include: • Improve practice through supportive self-evaluation. • identifying a bespoke strategy to improve ākonga outcomes. • supporting the implementation of new teaching plans. • provide in-person modelling of a lesson with your class. • regular online support meeting through The Hoa Project. • access to resources for your classes. • holiday workshop programs. The Teaching Practice understands and appreciates the challenges and demands on Music Teachers in schools and has devised a wide range of training and support. Our core purpose is to ensure that you have the time and assistance to complete major tasks effectively and to a high standard whilst maintaining an appropriate and positive work-life balance. This work involves teachers and facilitators in an action/reflection model where they team teach, observe, plan, and discuss the work that is happening in the classroom. The Teaching Practice currently offers support only to Music Educators with other subject areas coming soon.
