THE YOGA PROCESS, formerly Greystones Yoga Therapy, offers three distinct services.
Top of the list is yoga therapy — personal, individual sessions of therapy that uses yoga techniques to help the client deal with a wide range of health issues, often or usually in conjunction with their existing medical treatment.
Yoga therapy is always a one-to-one procedure and may continue for some time. Some of the many conditions which can be assisted by yoga therapy are chronic back pain, cardiovascular problems, respiratory difficulties like asthma, anxiety, insomnia, fatigue and mild to moderate depression.
The long term aims of yoga therapy are to
• Improve symptoms where possible and to help manage symptoms
• Reduce the negative effects of stress associated with having the condition
• Improve life functions like breathing, digestion and circulation
• Increase mental and emotional stability
• Reduce agitation and/or lethargy in the mind, moving towards a more balanced state — perhaps even rediscovering joy.
Then there are my gentle yoga classes which are suitable for men, women and teenagers. As well as teaching the yoga asanas (postures), therapist and instructor Ann-Marie Larkin places special emphasis on breathing techniques (pranayama) to create a rounded practice which both calms and energises. Short, relaxing meditations complete each class, leaving you feeling peaceful but strong.
The classes are available online, via Zoom, and in studio. I also provide individual, one-to-one tuition.
