The Money Co-op is an ethical, member-focused credit union dedicated to helping people take control of their money. Originally established in 1998, and until recently known as The Co-op Credit Union, we have a rich history rooted in the values of the co-operative movement. Our heritage of fairness, transparency, and putting people before profit has empowered thousands of members across the UK.
Over the years, we’ve helped over 28,000 members save millions of pounds in interest by providing over £50 million in affordable loans. Members have also saved more than £75 million in our savings accounts. Along the way, we’ve supported their financial wellbeing with tailored tools and advice. We’re here to help our members, no matter where they are on their financial journey.

What are Credit Unions?
Credit Unions are not-for-profit organisations which are owned and controlled by members, with no outside shareholders to satisfy. Members save regularly every month, and this forms a pool of money which is lent to members by way of loans at reasonable rates of interest.
Members can get involved as much or as little as they like – from simply saving and borrowing to attending the Annual General Meeting where members elect Directors and vote on the share dividend, or even becoming actively involved as volunteers.
Join a credit union and you become part of a huge worldwide movement. Across the world there are over 89,000 credit unions with over 260 million members in 117 countries. Over 1 million people in the UK are members of a Credit Union.
