Tidal Optics, LLC. has been recently established to develop a new class of contrast enhanced solid state lighting (SSL) vision aids designed for spectral signatures from light emitting diode (LED) based illumination displays including organic (OLED) and LED-phosphor based displays. SSL displays and in particular mobile SSL displays are difficult to view in high ambient light levels (sunny days). Increasing the display brightness is a typical method to improve viewability, but this is limited and comes at a high cost to battery life. Tidal Optics' technology will allow for device viewability in otherwise impossible or frustrating SSL viewing situations and enable longer battery life in mobile displays with an energy passive technology.
