The EEL-USP Synthetic Biology Club (CBSin) is a university entity affiliated with the Lorena Engineering School of the University of São Paulo (EEL-USP), whose main objective is to promote the dissemination and advancement of knowledge related to synthetic biology. CBSin, like other research centers, is dedicated to the study of the wide applications of genetically modified organisms and microorganisms, which are capable of performing specific functions for the solution of everyday problems.
As a way of disseminating and validating the knowledge produced by the entity, CBSin participates in international competitions, highlighting its successful participation in the prestigious synthetic biology competition known as iGEM (International Genetically Engineered Machine).
In the year 2023, CBSin is represented by the Team iGEM USP-EEL, composed of students from different areas of engineering, including chemical, biochemical and physical engineering. The team develops a project with great potential to represent the University of São Paulo in this annual edition of iGEM, which will be held in the city of Paris, France.
