Torbay Communities - Stronger together is a charity that was established following discussions with more than 100 voluntary sector representatives. Torbay Communities (formerly Torbay Community Development Trust) was formed to make Torbay a place where all people feel included. Our aim is to make the best use of local resources, ensuring that the many and varied talents of our community are used to the full. We aim to: Empower communities, building on strengths and skills through Asset-Based Community Development - ABCD Work cooperatively, not competitively Be long-term and sustainable Be accountable, communicating through a variety of media Be original and innovative Encourage cooperation and collaboration within and beyond our sector Be inclusive and anti-discriminatory Keep administration simple and bureaucracy minimal Resulting in: Better communication and cooperation across the Bay within and beyond the sector More local involvement in improving life in the Bay, starting by helping transform our neighbourhoods Improve services as we all have an opportunity to contribute to decision-making Volunteer groups achieving the highest standards of service and care with less bureaucracy and more creativity Access to Bay-wide information about what’s happening in the Bay A package of support, including fundraising, signposting and training Developing and supporting more volunteering opportunities Greater investment in Torbay
