True Top 1% Foundation

We are a Mental Health Initiative for our Military with a focus on Art: About True Top 1% Foundation: Our mission is to support, honor and empower our military and veterans, through Art Therapy using beer bottles (instead of a paint brush to paint with) as a tool of expression, than a tool of suppression. Art can foster self-esteem and self-awareness, and cultivate emotional resilience, positivity, and self- expression. I must note: - 1 in 3 Military are considered Binge Drinkers - SAMSHA estimates 37 and 50% of Afghanistan and Iraq War Veterans are diagnosed with some form of Mental Health condition We work with Veterans with PTS (a.k.a. PTSD, we dropped the "D" for disorder because it has a negative connotation.) Not all PTS(D) or mental conditions are handled by alcohol, however it is worth noting that not everyone in the community is able to relate to or understand our military especially when they transfer from Military to civilian life, which is its own issue that can inadvertently add to or bring about PTS(D). Some ways we help our Military with a focus on our #MentalHealth : 1. Our focus is of Bottle Paintings with a Beer Bottle... We take the Beer Bottle, the more self-destructive form of self-medication that many in the military with #PTS tend to use to cope with, that has led to 22% of #Veteran Suicides to date. We find out their vice (i.e. their choice of alcohol, vodka, bud light, etc.) and give it back to them clean and empty of liquid and scent. This is so they can see the "demon" they are battling internally, manifest itself into something more positive. The goal is to use that same very beer bottle as a gateway to a more creative outlet when it comes to stress, etc. a. We also offer to teach traditionally painting classes for groups like for P.A.V. 2..
