TU-Flex

TU-Flex is an advanced research platform developed by the Department of Flight Mechanics, Flight Control, and Aeroelasticity (FMRA) at TU Berlin, in collaboration with the DLR Institute of Aeroelasticity. Designed as an unmanned aerial research vehicle, TU-Flex is at the forefront of exploring high aspect ratio, highly flexible wings—key elements for the next generation of fuel-efficient and environmentally friendly aircraft. TU-Flex supports the urgent need to reduce emissions by optimizing aerodynamic performance and structural efficiency. By incorporating cutting-edge aeroelastic design, TU-Flex enables the study of structural flexibility and its impact on flight dynamics, a critical challenge in modern aviation. Through wind tunnel testing and future flight experiments, TU-Flex allows researchers to validate numerical models and develop advanced flight control strategies that mitigate aeroelastic instabilities.
