Turning The Plastic Tide

Turning The Plastic Tide company information, Employees & Contact Information

East Grampian Coastal Partnership (EGCP) Ltd. was founded in June 2005 as a not-for-profit limited company representing individuals and organisations who have an interest in maintaining and improving the wellbeing of the local Grampian coast between Fraserburgh and St Cyrus. This includes the engagement with, and education of, individuals, communities and businesses along the coast. Turning the Plastic Tide was established by EGCP in August 2018 with the aim of raising awareness about marine litter issues and increasing participation in beach cleaning in the North East of Scotland from Fraserburgh to East Haven, in Angus. Since its launch, the project has been engaging with schools, coastal communities, local/national government and the private sector to create new partnership opportunities to tackle marine litter issues. The initiative has two core activities involving the delivery of a marine litter school education programme and coordinating coastal clean-up operations with key groups and organisations across a number of priority locations. To date, the project has engaged with over 5000 individuals in beach cleaning across more than 100 events, the result of which has culminated in the removal of approximately 60 tonnes of litter from the marine environment. Marine litter workshops have also been delivered to over 2000 school pupils and youth groups, of which over 700 have been directly involved in cleaning up local beaches.
