Communication plays a vital role in human life. It is how people show their personality. It facilitates the sharing of information and knowledge, and helps people develop relationships with others. Our motivation is to make sure that a communication difficulty does not prevent someone from expressing their own thoughts, opinions and preferences. At Two Way Street, we believe everyone should be heard. Two Way Street creates communication solutions and intervention for children and adults with complex communication needs (little or no speech), their families, and the schools, providers, and businesses in their community. Our Certified Practising Speech Pathologists provide services and programs to individuals and groups, as well as workshops, training and consultation to schools, organisations and businesses. We also develop resources to support communication, such as aided language displays, PODD communication books, and more. We have a strong focus on ensuring that our services are personalised for each of our clients, to support them to meet their individual goals and play an active role within their families and wider communities. We have extensive experience in: Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) systems, including Pragmatic Organisation Dynamic Display (PODD) and Proloquo2Go and more, across all access methods including direct access, eye gaze, scanning and switch devices. As the Approved Assessment Organisation in South Australia for Communication Access we provide consultation, training, and resource development for organisations seeking this important accreditation. The Communication Access Symbol shows an organisation is truly inclusive, and is a big step towards people with communication challenges feeling welcomed and accepted as customers. As our name implies, successful communication is a two way street, so we encourage feedback, and requests for new programs or approaches to meet the needs of people with complex communication needs.
