The University of Alberta Robotics Association (UARA) aims to make robotics accessible for everybody. As a University of Alberta Group, we work with students to provide opportunities to grow outside of their faculty. Whether you have experience in robotics or not, the UARA has something for you!
Built off of passions, our team works to create interesting, adaptive ways of learning to make robotics an open field for those of all backgrounds.
Founded by a Matvey Okoneshnikov and Logan Hindley at the beginning of 2025, the UARA has been providing unique experiences to students not just attending the University of Alberta, but mentoring High-School FIRST Robotics teams throughout Edmonton.
Our Founder, Matvey Okoneshnikov's prior experience throughout grade school brought him to University craving to make an impact in the industry. Realizing that many robotics teams were intimidating, engineering faculty cliques to many students, he felt that many students wouldn't be able to get the opportunities they desired through Robotics, and so the UARA was formed.
Alongside Co-Founder Logan Hindley, a Media & Technology specialist spouting from his seniors tech tutoring business at home, the UARA works to host events, design impactful products, and make an impact to individuals globally.
We specialize in adaptive, life-saving robotics. We are actively working on robotics to aid in Search and Rescue operations to rescue those in hard to reach situations, or administer temporary aid to allow time for rescuers to safely arrive at the site without compromising themselves.
With this, we host workshops, competitions, and speaker sessions to provide students the chance to get involved with us. Running our introductory workshops allows us to connect with students lacking experience, fostering relationships with individuals of all experience levels and faculties!
