We are a core scientific support facility at the University of California Berkeley. Founded in the mid 1990's, the Facility has historically focused on Sanger sequencing for academics at UC Berkeley and beyond. However – We have since expanded our services to include Nanopore sequencing, plasmid sequencing, nucleic acid (and plasmid) purifications, droplet digital PCR, qPCR, cell line authentication, DNA fragment analysis, and stem cell authentication, among others. We provide both routine services and develop custom projects for academic and commercial clients. We operate ABI 3730xl DNA Analyzers, Nanopore minion sequencers, Biomek robotic liquid handlers, Bio-Rad ddPCR and qPCR machines, a TapeStation 4200, a BioTek HTX plate reader, and more. Our scientific staff is highly skilled and experienced, and each year we hire, train, and assist undergraduate employees in learning essential laboratory technical skills.
