Since 1985, more than 200 companies formed by licensing technologies from the University of Florida. UF Innovate | Ventures, the newest member of the UF Innovate quartet, seeks to fuel consistent growth in the number and quality of technology-based startup companies. These startups move UF inventions out of the lab and into the marketplace for the global good. Ventures supports startups by developing entrepreneurs and connecting companies to potential investors.
One potential investor is the university. With a $1 million venture fund available to support startups, UF will be a “following investor,” basing its decision to fund a startup on another investor’s due diligence work and commitment to invest a significant dollar amount in the company. UF Innovate | Ventures will implement the investment program.
