ICQHS’ mission is to promote capacity-building, research and development in relation to qanats and other traditional water resources management systems and historic hydraulic structures for the purpose of achieving sustainable development objectives through international cooperation; global exchange of knowledge and technology on qanats, traditional water resources management systems and historic hydraulic structures; preservation of the cultural heritage that qanats, traditional water resources management systems and historic hydraulic structures represent; and, enhancing cooperation with institutions dealing with qanats, traditional water resources management systems and historic hydraulic structures.
