Urban Matters

Urban Matters offers specialized consulting services that drive social and environmental regeneration in built environments worldwide. Through research, advisory, and co-design, we work across various scales –policies, strategies, programs, and projects– to support the regeneration of ecosystems and the well-being of communities. We aim to cultivate the mindset, values, and strategic goals to shape just and sustainable cities. At Urban Matters, we recognize that the current models for designing cities and organizing societies have disrupted fundamental and inextricable connections between people and the environment. These disconnections manifest in the rise of social injustices, deepening inequalities, and the deterioration of ecosystems. In response to these challenges, we place reconciliation and regeneration at the heart of our work—both socially and environmentally. We embrace a non-dualist approach, understanding that we, humans, are part of nature, not separate from it. As weavers and co-designers within the built environment, Urban Matters is dedicated to nurturing spaces that cultivate resilience, inspire continuous learning, and drive collaborative innovation. We advise progressive governments, open-minded developers, agile NGOs, and forward-thinking research institutions on how to best use their tools –investments, policies, strategies, programs, projects– to maximize their potential and role in achieving social and environmental goals at scale.
