URGENT project

Europe urgently needs to decarbonise its heating sector, and geothermal energy can help by providing urban heat as an alternative to fossil fuels. The URGENT project aims to overcome current challenges in geothermal exploration with sustainable, low-impact technologies designed for urban environments. These technologies will be tested in Belgium, Poland, and Hungary, improving reservoir characterisation and reducing exploration costs. AI and machine learning will enhance data analysis and optimise well design, increasing plant lifespans and revenue. URGENT will accelerate urban geothermal projects through tailored exploration workflows and market acceptance strategies.
