Very Special Needs

The divisions of a taxonomy named 'Special Educational Needs and Disabilities' (SEND) accommodate a diverse demographic of individuals. Furthermore, their specific 'needs' and the form of facilitation to which such individuals respond is often unique, reflecting the quiddity of unique experience. That is to say in the simplest of terms that their needs are 'Very Special'. Consequently, whilst diagnostic frameworks are helpful in implementing policy and services at a broad collective level, they often have minimal relevance to the practical provision of day-to-day care. Rather, successful outcomes depend significantly upon the agile flexibility with which caring professionals are able to forge an authentic relationship with every client, responding to their Very Special Needs. The Very Special Needs Projects seeks to delve beneath diagnostic taxonomy in search of a language that reflects the experience of those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities, whilst supporting those who facilitate their wellbeing and independence.
