viadonau aka via donau – Österreichische Wasserstraßen-Gesellschaft mbH - was established in 2005 by the former Austrian Federal Ministry for Transport, Innovation and Technology (now: Austrian Federal Ministry for Climate Action). via donau is tasked with the maintenance and development of the Danube waterway and has become an internationally renowned and leading authority in waterway management in the Danube region.
