About Vila Komoda
Vila Komoda is a newly restored historical home boutique hotel, restaurant and a rooftop terrace, situated in the heart of a resort town Palanga — Meilės Alėja. Newly reestablished home consists of 10 bright and spacious rooms, luminous rooftop terrace, offering snacks and drinks, a private garden, and a seasonal cuisine restaurant, led by a world-renowned chef. Komoda was originally built in the second half of the 19th century by famous Lithuanian counts Tiškevičiai. It is said that Feliksas Tiškevičius, a respectable count, ordered and built this unique guest house so he could give it to his brother, Aleksandras Tiškevičius, and his family, hence they could spend their summers together. Differently from other villas in the town at the time, Komoda was built using stone instead of wood, and was designed by a Polish architect Leonardo Marconi. It is believed that Marconi sold the design abroad. Currently, there is a very similar looking building, standing in Monaco, France, which belongs to to Chanel’s head creative director — Karl Lagerfeld. In 2009 Komoda’s building was registered as a cultural heritage, and on the 1st of July, 2018 it opened its doors to visitors for the very first time. The name originates from its unique shape, resembling a piece of furniture, called ‘komoda’ in Lithuanian (a piece of wooden drawers).
