Oromia is also home to mighty rivers like the Awash, Baro, and Wabi-Shebelle, and 4000m+ high plains you can drive to and camp at and where you can see endemic species like the Red Fox, the magnificent Black Maned Lion, and the Mountain Nyala. Oromia's southern plains and its northern rift valley are home to the Borana and Karrayyu people whose practice of the indigenous democratic system Gadaa predates any state in the land and is still intact today.
