Vital Reactor is currently on a hiatus due to our managing partner takeing a role as CEO in our first spinout, Vital Labs (https://www.vitallabs.com)
We are similar to a traditional incubator, but instead of emphasizing the launch of new companies, we focus on internal development and support of useful technologies that are not a good match for traditional startup funding models. Most of our IP is directly owned, but the rights of outside investors and contributors are contractually protected. We are exploring a novel approach to sweat equity projects, crowd funding, and partnership-based development projects.
We also work on larger strategic joint ventures that may have short-term real-world impact and/or long-term commercial potential but are typically at the pre-seed or translational stage of development.
Our model works because we choose projects that are synergistic with our internal expertise and existing infrastructure, reducing development costs. We heavily emphasize minimization of sustaining costs to ensure that we can maintain an application as long as possible. We are organized as a benefit corporation, so our model balances impact on society with commercial return.
