Association for Socio-Cultural Work (VskA e.V.)
The Association for Socio-Cultural Work (VskA e.V.) is the professional association for neighborhood work in Germany.
The member organizations of VskA e.V. bring people from the neighborhood together and respond to their concerns. Neighborhood centers are decentralized facilities close to where people live. They offer residents—regardless of origin or belief—opportunities for participation and co-creation, for self-organized activities, and for civic engagement in manageable and accessible spaces. They foster a spirit of solidarity, diversity, and democratic community.
Nationwide, the Association for Socio-Cultural Work counts over 100 member organizations that operate neighborhood centers, community centers, civic centers, family centers, multi-generational houses, neighborhood meeting places, and other socio-cultural institutions. New members join on an ongoing basis. All member organizations pursue non-profit goals and are committed to community-oriented work. Their work is guided by the principles of individual self-determination, personal freedom, and human dignity.
