The District is responsible for the fair, uniform, and accurate annual mass valuation of all taxable property within Van Zandt County for ad valorem tax purposes. The District is also contracted with 21 of the 24 taxing entities within Van Zandt County to provide property tax assessment and collection services. The District serves the county, 12 independent school districts, 5 incorporated cities, 4 emergency service districts, and 2 community colleges. The Chief Appraiser, appointed by the Appraisal District's Board of Directors, serves as the Chief Executive Officer for the District and Tax Administrator/Property Tax Assessor Collector for the entities contracted with the District for assessment and collection services.
