Wainwright's Bee Farm

We're a father and daughter run business based in Wales specialising in farmers' market honey. We're one of the largest honey producers in the UK with hives scattered in wilderness landscapes across the British countryside, form the Welsh mountains to the chalk downloads of Salisbury Plain, with each area producing special and unique honey flavours. We specialise in small-batch and unhomogenised honeys from different individual farm locations. We go further than single origin, every jar is from one apiary (or group of hives) on one farm. After harvesting we pack each farm's honey variety separately with a different coloured and numbered lid label which we print a story onto about that particular season's conditions and the flowers the bees forages from to produce the unique honey. This is written from all of our first-hand experience visiting and tending to each apiary. Our Single Farm Honey is never blended resulting in a plethora of different varieties, each with individual taste, colour and aroma. All this difference is lost in mass-produced and blended honeys. We want to counteract this and celebrate honey in all its diversity and not lose these special characteristics. We occupy a unique position in the UK honey industry as bee farmers and honey packers. This means we can control every aspect of our product quality from hive to jar, ensuring the best quality and biggest flavour reach our customer. The farmers we work with create a bee friendly environment by leaving diverse wildflower margins growing freely, bird and bug friendly hedge corridors, and cover crops providing seed for wild birds to forage on over the winter. In return our bees ensure good pollination of wildflower and crops, increasing the quantities of fruits and seeds. Over the years our bee families have grown stronger and healthier. One of the reasons for this we believe is careful farm management and good practises such as responsible use of approved pesticides.
