Walimu, a Uganda-registered and United States 501(c)(3) non-government organization, focuses on improving the quality of clinical care provided by health workers at health facilities throughout Uganda. Since 2013, Walimu, in collaboration with the Ugandan MoH and WHO, has trained over 500 Ugandan health workers from 30 health facilities using a systematic approach to management of patients with severe illness using WHO curricula. Post-training reinforcement is administered through implementation of the Severe Illness Management Support (SIMS) platform, a multi-faceted quality improvement approach comprising data audit and feedback, collaborative improvement meetings, support supervision, and mentoring to improve the quality of clinical management provided to severely ill patients.
