About Women's Economic Imperative (WEI)
WEI (the Women’s Economic Imperative) - a global, collaborative initiative to promote women’s economic empowerment - was founded in January 2018 as a response to the Call to Action of the United Nations Secretary-General’s High-Level Panel on Women’s Economic Empowerment. WEI recognizes the imperative of enabling women to fulfill their potential as economic actors and offers a collaborative “way” forward for advancing women’s economic empowerment in the world today. WEI focuses on transformative action. Our aim is to drive concrete, sustainable, and measurable progress for women in the economic sphere, whether in the workplace or as entrepreneurs. WEI invites individuals, companies, and institutions to take action and to foster women’s economic empowerment and collectively advance women’s economic empowerment to critical mass, for the benefit of everyone. Everyone has a role to play in advocating for and promoting women’s economic empowerment. We can take action in our respective roles as individuals, institutional affiliates, or actors and nodes in personal and professional networks. As we develop the WEI platform and our portfolio of high-impact initiatives, we’re seeking corporate and institutional partners, as well as individual WEI contributors, who are committed to economic gender parity, women’s economic empowerment, and entrepreneurship, to provide (a) Funding/investments (innovative partnerships); (b) Expertise; and (c) Advocacy.
