Wergonic is a spin-off from the research group "The Smart Workwear" at KTH Royal Institute of Technology and Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm, Sweden.
Musculoskeletal disorders and work injuries are the most common cause of occupational injuries in Europe. The cost of these injuries is estimated at around 50 billion SEK per year, only in Sweden. A first step towards preventing these injuries is a risk assessment of the workplace. Today this risk assessment is done through observations and manual assessment by ergonomists.
During several years, The Smart Workwear research group has conceptualized, developed, and evaluated a system to measure work postures, movements and loads for an automated risk assessment. Real-time feedback to the user is another option for the self-training of better working techniques.
The research has mainly financed through AFA Insurance Company, Vinnova, and EIT Health research and innovation projects. KTH Innovation supports ErgoTech Nordic.
