Western Maritime Training

Western Maritime Training is an approved provider of maritime training courses located in Plymouth, in the South West of the UK. Established in 1991 we offer training at every level to mariners at our Training Centre from STCW basic safety training to the 5-week NAEST course. We are an ISO accredited, MCA, SQA, Seafish and AMERC approved provider of high-quality training courses. Our instructors are all Master Mariners or technical specialists and hold professional seagoing qualifications. We have our own Full Mission Bridge Simulator and three smaller simulation stations used for teaching courses such as ECDIS, NAEST and Superyacht navigation courses. We have brand new interactive work stations in our GMDSS Radio Laboratory, for teaching ROC and GOC courses. This is equipped with live MF, HF, VHF and Navtex sets and Transas GMDSS simulators for each student which are used for Inmarsat system simulation and for scenario and communication exercises. In addition, we have a large selection of specialist equipment and facilities to assist in our training delivery, including a dedicated workshop with a working marine diesel engine for the teaching of MCA 30 hour Diesel Engine AEC courses and Efficient Deck Hand certificate.
