What is the When You Die Project?
From existential afterlife questions such as “What happens when you die?” to hospice care and the nuts-and-bolts of end-of-life planning, if it has to do with death, we’re talking about it. We believe death awareness brings a happier end to a fuller life.
The When You Die project was created out of Johanna J. Lunn’s own grief journey and the need to make death a more approachable and less fearful topic. In addition to podcasts, resources, and a robust social media presence, at its heart, the When You Die Project is a documentary trilogy series that explores what happens when we die, and helps those who want to know more about our final passage from this life.
The great gift of the trilogy, is that it addresses our fear of death in an accessible and humane way. With curiosity and compassion death is explored in all its facets: physical, emotional, and spiritual. This approach allows death to become what it is — a part of life. When health care providers develop fluency in these dimensions, end of-life-care goes to the next level of excellence. This is why the films are used by death doulas, end-of-life educators, and in hospices as educational tools and resources.
