The Women Leaders in Eye Health (WLEH) initiative—a partnership of Orbis International, Women in Ophthalmology (WIO), and Seva Foundation—is dedicated to closing the gender gap in eye health.
Women comprise 70% of the health workforce yet hold only 25% of leadership roles, with cultural and gender biases, limited mentorship, and caregiving responsibilities often restricting their advancement.
WLEH dismantles these barriers by uplifting female eye health professionals at every level through transformative leadership, mentorship, and strong global connections—ultimately creating more inclusive, accessible eye care for all.
