Since its launch in May of 2002, Cleveland 19 News at 11 has supplanted a thirty-year late news leader near the top of the late news ratings in just three calendar years. WOIO's Sign-On Date was May 19, 1985. In 1986, Malrite Communications Group gained majority ownership of the station, which it maintained until September 1998 when Raycom Media purchased the station.
