Work-Based Learning at CITL

We are a Work-Based Learning program hosted at the Center for Innovative Teaching and Learning at Ulster BOCES. We call ourselves Level Up and our students are highly motivated young adults with disabilities in search of authentic, real-world employment experiences. We are looking for: -Work-based learning job sites -Job shadowing opportunities -Mentors -Advisory Board members -Guest speakers We hope to partner with local businesses and national corporations to develop longstanding relationships that enhance student outcomes and provide benefits to employers. Why get involved with Work-Based Learning at CITL? -Employers can help shape the educational content of the program, resulting in young graduates who are already armed with the skills they need to succeed in their chosen industry. -We emphasize explicit teaching of the soft skills that employers know are more important than anything else - critical thinking, problem solving, time management, reliability, and flexibility. -Supporting neurodivergent students not only benefits those young adults, but the entire community. Businesses can find a new talent pool for hard-to-fill positions and utilize the support of our program to successfully train young adults for those roles. For more information, please reach out!
