World Afro Day® 15th September is a global day of celebration and liberation of Afro hair and identity. Since September 2017 it has been endorsed by the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights and Decade of African Descent.

*2022 World Afro Day® was a key contributor to the UK Equalities and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) guidelines to prevent Afro hair discrimination in schools.
*2023 will be the 7th anniversary of World Afro Day (WAD).
*We have created a global spotlight on Afro hair inclusion, which in 2021 generated 81 pieces of coverage with an overall reach of over 1.5 billion.
*We have pioneered a global solution in education, called the Big Hair Assembly®. The event reaches over 500 schools internationally and over 170,000+ kids and young people.
*WAD is supported by five UK Education Unions: ASCL, NAHT, NASUWT, NEU and Voice Community to end hair discrimination in schools.
*We have generated impressive celebrity support: Yara Shahidi, Janet Jackson, Jill Scott, Quest Love, Larry Blackman, Viola Davis, Naomi Campbell, Tracee Ellis-Ross, Kerry Washington, Fleur East and Judi Love etc.

*2018 our founder Michelle De Leon made a speech at the United Nations, Geneva. We have influenced the UN, the UK and international governments to address Afro hair discrimination.
