WrapUp is a social enterprise specializing in creating artisanal products from upcycled plastic wrapper waste which is otherwise not recycled. It was started by a mother-daughter duo who are passionate about reducing the waste ending up on the streets of Karachi. Our team of artisanals are women from low income backgrounds who we train in-house.
We aim to create products that are not only aesthetically pleasing, but also functional. We are continuously innovating, striving to refine our products for consumers and trying to develop further processes that make the end product completely unrecognizable from our starting raw material, which is mostly the waste from plastic wrappers used in food packaging.
In addition to product creation, WrapUp also has an educational arm which organizes workshops and programs in schools, spreading awareness among school children and communities about waste management and reduction of one’s carbon footprint. It also aims to mobilize children and communities to take small actions and become change makers themselves.
We take our impact a step further and teach communities, specifically children from financially challenged backgrounds how to make upcycled goods themselves, thus inspiring them and equipping them with new skills.
We also partner with Al-Furqan Welfare Organisation, an organisation committed to the social and moral uplifting of families and also a beneficiary of our company.
