YaYCon

YaYCon is a feminist festival, which offers a critical platform to discuss and celebrate LGBTQA relationships in the media. This annual international festival is based in The Netherlands, but has English events and scheduling. Our guests and event hosts are international. In 2010, we founded YaYCon with a small diverse team, devoted to queer Japanese pop-culture. Fans of the genres "yaoi" (homosexual/homoerotic content) and "yuri" (lesbian content) in manga, anime and games are still our main visitors, but during the years, we have extended our focus to LGBT(QA) portrayals in Western and Eastern pop-culture. YaYCon is feminist by nature, and wants to make a difference for its visitors - every gender, sexuality and ethnicity is welcomed. Activities at this festival take on many forms. At YaYCon, visitors can attend panels and lectures, LGBT charity events, costumed events, workshops and parties. There is plenty of Japanese food, and an exhibition hall with lots of cool merchandise. Our current location is Icoontheater Amesfoort.
