About Youth Effect

With 22 official and tens of non-official languages, the problem of limited access to medically verified information on sexual and reproductive health is exacerbated by the absence of literature on SRH in Indian local languages. The lack of comprehensive sex education in schools, the absence of safe spaces, the presence of misleading online content on SRH and the rising needs of young people to know more on SRH gave birth to Youth Effect's #DiDi (Sister) Campaign. Young people in India deserve spaces where they can ask any and every question on SRH including but not limited to menstruation, HIV/AIDS and gender identities - we are here with just the platform for the likes of us! Youth Effect's #DiDi Campaign, a result of primary & secondary research and an incubate of Haiyya, has been developed & deployed by & with the youth of 7 districts in India. #DiDi campaign has been piloted with tens of users and intends to piloted with over 1,000 young people and uses 4 Indian local languages - Hindi, Urdu, Tamil, & Bengali/Kannada - to demystify comprehensive sex education (eventually, mental health) for local Indian youth to start with ~
