Zaphir was founded in 2020 by Cordelia; a jewellery-mad scientist with a PhD in microbiology and an avid fascination with nature. Self-taught in jewellery making, she has spent over 20 years refining her craft and is continually pursuing new ways to express creativity and design.
Using both modern and traditional metalsmithing techniques, Zaphir focusses on recycled & ethically sourced silver and second-hand pieces which avoid waste wherever possible.
Passionate about how we control our impact on the world around us, Zaphir is determined to avoid unnecessary use of plastics, and so all of the packaging we use is plastic-free, recyclable or compostible - and even our materials supplier adheres to this ethos.
We only use precious solid silver, gold vermeil, gold & platinum in our pieces; never inferior plated base metal and no plastic-based resin. This makes our pieces precious and long-lasting so they can be gifted and worn with confidence.
Our collections include handmade gold & silver jewellery, made in the heart of Oxfordshire in our little workshop, as well as pre-loved and vintage pieces sourced from all over the world over decades. All of our pieces are as eco-friendly as we can make them, so we choose recycled silver wherever possible, and re-recycle all of our off-cuts. We embrace ethically sourced and recycled gemstones, along with eco-friendly lab created stones.
