Human Rights Centre ZMINA

ZMINA is a Ukrainian non-profit organization that monitors, informs, and advocates for human rights and freedom. The organization was established in 2012 by a small group of journalists and human rights defenders to promote the values of freedom and human rights in Ukrainian media space. ZMINA informs its audience about the human rights situation in Ukraine via its own media portal, https://zmina.info/, and accounts on Facebook, Instagram, X, and TikTok in Ukrainian and English. ZMINA also cooperates with the most reputable media outlets in Ukraine and worldwide to share updates about human rights developments, reform agenda, the situation with civilians in the temporarily occupied territories, and war crimes committed in Ukraine since Russian aggression. Since 2016, ZMINA has monitored and documented attacks on human rights defenders in Ukraine and led information and advocacy campaigns to strengthen the protection of civic activists, freedom of association, and assembly in Ukraine. ZMINA provides legal and emergency assistance to at-risk activists, including covering costs for psychological and medical consultations, relocation, or physical security. In late February 2022, ZMINA and other NGOs launched the Ukraine 5AM Coalition, which currently unites 37 NGOs and documents war crimes, supports enforced disappearance and torture survivors, and brings the perpetrators to justice. ZMINA prioritizes research and advocacy to promote and respect human rights in the decision-making process and leads targeted human rights campaigns.
