Das Kompetenzzentrum Bio4MatPro „Kompetenzzentrum zur Biologischen Transformation von Materialwissenschaften und Produktionstechnik“ ist eines der beiden Flaggschiffprojekte, die als Teil des Forschungsverbunds "Modellregion Bioökonomie im Rheinischen Revier" vom Bundesministrium für Bildung und Forschung (BMBF) gefördert wird. In der ersten fünfjährigen Projektphase vom Jahr 2022 bis 2026 arbeiten mehr als 50 Partner aus Wissenschaft und Industrie in 23 Subprojekten zusammen, um die Biologische Transformation von Industrien wie der Textil-, Chemie-, Konsumgüterindustrie und des Leichtbaus durch eine Biologische Transformation der Materialwissenschaften und Produktionstechnik zu erforschen und umzusetzen.
Nachhaltiger Strukturwandel mit Produkten mit hoher Wertschöpfung basierend auf lokalen, nachwachsenden Rohstoffen und die Schaffung von zukunftsträchtigen Arbeitsplätzen ist das, was uns antreibt.
Hierzu wurden im Bio4MatPro Innovationsnetzwerk sechs sogenannte BoostLabs, BoostLab1 bis BoostLab6, entwickelt, die in 23 Verbundprojekten drei Fokusthemenfelder bearbeiten. Die Fokusthemenfeldern umfassen:

Entwicklung von Zukunftstechnologien um Bioökonomie mit nachhaltiger Kreislaufwirtschaft zu verbinden (BoostLab2 und BoostLab3)
Biologische Transformation von Anwendungsindustrien (BoostLab4 bis BoostLab6)
