Das Dravet-Syndrom ist eine schwere, frühkindliche Epilepsieform, die teils gravierende geistige wie körperliche Einschränkungen mit sich bringt. Sie basiert zu rund 80% auf einem Gendefekt am SCN1a-Gen und gehört zu den seltenen Erkrankungen. Selten heißt bei diesem Syndrom, dass eine Erkrankung auf circa 15.500 Geburten fällt.
Chronische Erkrankungen betreffen die ganze Familie. Sie kommen im Falle des Dravet-Syndroms plötzlich und bringen erst einmal alles durcheinander. Es kostet Kraft, bringt Unsicherheit und Angst und verändert den Alltag einer betroffenen Familie für immer.
Es gibt nach wie vor sehr viel Aufklärungsbedarf bei Ärzten, Krankenkassen und Behörden. Es wird noch immer zu wenig geforscht, was die Krankheit bisher kaum therapier- oder gar heilbar macht. Der Dravet-Syndrom e.V. ist ein gemeinnütziger Verein und möchte dies ändern. Es gibt so viele Fragen und wir wollen hier so viele, wie möglich, beantworten.
Der Dravet-Syndrom e.V. gibt Infos zur Krankheit und Hilfestellungen für den Alltag. Mit unserem Schirmherrn, Wigald Boning, haben wir einen wunderbaren und sehr umtriebigen und prominenten Unterstützer.
Wir finanzieren uns über Mitgliedsbeiträge, aber vor allem Spenden ermöglichen unsere Arbeit – nämlich Aufmerksamkeit für die Krankheit zu schaffen, Betroffenen zu helfen die Forschung voranzutreiben.
