He joined BP as a lead investigator in 2011 as part of the Safety & Operational Risk organization, investigating oil, gas, wind and biofuels incidents worldwide. He was instrumental in developing and delivering training for over 300 investigators around the globe and was the Group Technical Authority for investigations when he retired in 2020.
Hooper holds an MBA from Tulane University, and has served as an adjunct lecturer in the business school. He is a qualified Offshore Petroleum Industry Training Organisation (OPITO) competency assessor, and holds a Diploma from the National Examining Board for Occupational Safety and Health (NEBOSH) in incident investigation.
As the President of HH Risk Control, LLC, Hooper leverages his global experience in safety consulting, investigation and training. He serves as an expert witness on FAA regulations, flight operations and safety. He is also an instructor at the Southern California Safety Institute in Redondo Beach, CA.
