Sönmez Holding, Kutlucan Holding ve Türkün Holding ortaklığı ile kurulan Sönmez Çimento Yapı ve Madencilik San. ve Tic. A.Ş., Adana Yumurtalık TAYSEB Serbest Bölgesi’nde Ekim 2014’de üretime başlamıştır.
Aralık 2012’de yapımına başlanan fabrika, son teknoloji tozsuzlaştırma sistemleri ile Güncel Çevre Mevzuatına uygun olarak dizayn edilmiş olup, aynı zamanda alternatif yakıt ve yenilenebilir enerji kaynakları kullanımı ile çevreci fabrika özelliğini korumaktadır.
413 dönümlük sahası ve 220 çalışanıyla hammadde kaynaklarına çok yakın olan Sönmez Çimento, Serbest Bölgeler içerisine kurulmasına izin verilen Türkiye’deki ilk çimento fabrikasıdır. Sönmez Çimento, 2017 yılı kasım ayında tamamlanan liman projesiyle rekabetçi avantajını daha da kuvvetlendirmeyi ve müşterilerine en iyi hizmeti sunmayı hedeflemektedir.
Sönmez Çimento’nun hedef pazarları Kuzey Afrika, Batı Afrika ve Güney Amerika başta olmak üzere tüm dünya pazarlarıdır. Farklı tiplerde portland çimento ürün yelpazesine sahip olan Sönmez Çimento, Güney Amerika pazarı için düşük alkali çimento, Kuzey Afrika pazarı için düşük kromlu çimento ve sülfata dayanıklı çimento üreterek rakiplerinden sıyrılmaktadır.
Yıllık 1.7 milyon ton klinker, 2 milyon ton çimento üretimi gerçekleştirecek olan Sönmez Çimento’nun satışlarının %85’i ihraç edilerek, ülkemizin 2023 ihracat hedeflerine olumlu katkıda bulunacaktır.
